Gamer slain over virtual property dispute
Qiu Chengwei stabbed Zhu Caoyuan in the chest when he found out he had sold his virtual sword for 7,200 Yuan (£473).
The sword, which Mr Qiu had lent to Mr Zhu, was won in the popular online game Legend of Mir 3.
Attempts to take the dispute to the police failed because there is currently no law in China to protect virtual property.

I really want to comment, but I just can't.

Aren't people supposed to be playing these things to have fun?

I have a friend in Seattle who got out of LARPGing for the same reason. Too many guys joined who were interested in getting together just so they could level up their characters and were into the competitive side of LARPG but not into dressing in costumes and acting out character roles.
I personally don't think people should be protected in the slightest from losing things online. If your're that into a game that you are buying/selling magical items on eBay, then you totally deserve to get taken to the cleaners.
I was talking to Neil though, who said the police in Korea have a special division just for dealing with problems that happen online.
Anyway...things are getting crazy. I guess all those cyberpunk writers were right. I wonder when we'll have the brain jacks! =)

My icons clash with everthing I think (especially the b and w ones). I never actually noticed it before.
