wow...this thing is getting crazy

Basically the parent company Viacom is trying to make money off of things which were formerly free, and closing off certain parts of the Neopetian universe to only those people who pay.

The funniest act of rebellion though is thousands of Neopetians are naming their pets "bleh!" and bombing the discussion forums with Viacom hate - so a state of martial law has now been declared (ok...j/k...I made that last part up).

I'm used to people getting really emotionally fanatical about seemingly trivial things. It's the Internet after all. When I first started getting online a lot - people were freaking about alien abductions and what the government was hiding at Roswell. Did you ever check out those Yahoo groups filled with people who were claiming they were former abductees and had chips implanted in their brains?

Speaking of the Internet...when did it become the internets? I think I missed that memo. Is the place becoming Balkanized? When did we get more than one Internet?

Anyway I posted the link because I thought it's funny how all of these social sites where people hang out are having troubles with their users rebelling. First it was digg.com, then it was the great LJ Apocalypse, and now the Neopians are storming the Bastille. Maybe there's a revolutionary zeal in the air? =)
