wow...this thing is getting crazy

Basically the parent company Viacom is trying to make money off of things which were formerly free, and closing off certain parts of the Neopetian universe to only those people who pay.

The funniest act of rebellion though is thousands of Neopetians are naming their pets "bleh!" and bombing the discussion forums with Viacom hate - so a state of martial law has now been declared (ok...j/k...I made that last part up).

meh

as a neopets user, i think people are making a mountain of a molehill. Seriously. Putting clothes on your neopet doesn't give anyone an "advantage" in the game. It's not like it's helping you make neopoints or anything. You can't sell the clothes. Plus, the clothes are clearly marked as clothes purchased by neocash, so people no one will think that the person has bazillions of neopoints.

Really, it's no different that LJ's virtual gifts, except the clothes last three months instead of two weeks.

It does, however, explain why neopets changed over to the new system that allowed neopets to wear clothes.

I don't see the big fuss. Yeah, it helps the rich get richer, but they're not charging for the actual site, just some really inane feature.
