Primer

If you like movies like Memento, that is. It's actually a lot harder to follow than Memento. I think I'll need to watch it a second time just to figure out what is going on. Basically, two brilliant engineers are trying to create a technology start-up, and they inadvertantly build a machine that allows them to travel back in time a few hours. And run into the typical philosophical and real problems time travellers have to deal with.

The movie is almost a pure intellectual exercise, and it is emotionally barren as the Mojave.

But it is also the coolest Indie film I have seen in a long time.

Oh - and I forgot to mention that it was made
on a budget of only $7000!

A lot of the movie reminded me of From the Earth to the Moon (HBO miniseries about the Apollo program). Whoever made it really knew how engineers interact with each other in their free time (well - the director I believe was an engineer), and this is the primary reason the film feels so emotionally barren. It sounds like a negative, but it really makes the movie that much more creepy and engaging and realistic.

Only $7000? Wow!
I actually think simply can be better a lot of times. And I love any movie that makes me think :)
