And this was a cool story that restored my faith in human nature somewhat (not that it has ever been seriously challenged): [18 year old "pirates" a school bus, rescues 100 from NOLA]
This line from the original new story pissed me off though: "In an extreme act of looting, one group actually stole a bus to escape ravaged areas in Louisiana."
If it had been an 18-year old white kid that took that bus, they'd be calling him a hero. He beat the goddamned chartered buses that were scheduled to evacuate the Death Dome, and he pulled 100 people out of hell. I mean, what-the-everloving-fuck is wrong with people? How about let's let more people die because all of the paperwork has not been filled out properly.
It gets better though....because once they arrived at the Houston Astrodome the assholes working the gate took a long time before they allowed the bus through (it wasn't 'scheduled' to arrive...these were unscheduled refugees which apparently blew all of their fuses), and there is talk about pressing charges against the kid for stealing the bus.
