Apparently they are buying up dark fiber in the US like crazy, and speculation is rampant that they want to build a better, faster, smarter, Internet parallel to the clogged, wobbly little thing we currently hobble along on.

Awesome! I've been hoping someone would. I know my own old university had tons of laid fiber optic laying around not lit up and wondering what to do with it...
