The whole "note bush's dramatic backdrop" comment is so ... saucy.
The only thing is, she's a mom, sure, but none of her kids have died over there. He needs to get a mom with some grief who's still for the war. Otherwise the only people he's going to convince are people who are already convinced.
I'm pretty sure Karl Rove looked high and low for one of the Gold Star moms that was pro-Bush. Makes me feel good that they haven't been able to find one yet, and just had to settle for a mom with all living sons.
actually, I kept reading that article, and apparantly there are parents who've lost kids who met with Bush and think he feels their pain. Apparantly they're not good enough to be spokes people though.
How could that asshole feel their pain? The Vodka Twins aren't even in the military, and he spent his National Guard years coked up and drunk.
The thing is - Cindy Sheehan (and a lot of her supporters) are really REALLY articulate. And they were probably looking for a mom who was just as articulate and this Idaho woman was the best they could come up with.
It also needs to look like it's Grass Roots...so I'm anticipating some serious astro turf being laid in the coming weeks.
