Article on US 'problems' with recruiting

Quote the article: A strong Army fighting force is essential not only to America's worldwide interests, but indeed to our survival as a nation and the life we enjoy today. But if the decline in our Army's strength continues, make no mistake, we could readily lose that way of life.

Our soldiers are fighting for our way of life? WTF does that mean? I'm assuming he didn't say fighting for our freedom because at this point most people's bullshit meter would go into the red zone and his entire piece of shit article would be completely discredited. But do you think anyone wants to die to preserve a 'way of life'? And if there are Americans concerned about our losing 'way of life' - which coincidentally seems to depend an awful lot on cheap oil, then maybe we should raise the recruiting age so the middle-aged out-of-shape fucks can get some trigger time in the shit. Because that seems to me to be the demagraphic that is most content with our current 'way of life'.

Here's an idea. Instead of wasting our time looking at all the reasons why recruitment is down and what it foretells for the future of our military, why don't we pull our troops out now? Our reasons for being there were total bullshit, so get them out now. And go find Osama (who is probably staying with the Saudis in Riyadh).

A more coherent and rational response might be forthcoming, but right now I'm too pissed.
