Dr. Who website

How come no one told me?

I have fond memories of getting baked with my roommate and watching Dr. Who episodes when I was taking a break from doing math. He was a fanatic about the episodes and new all the lines by heart. Actually that got a little annoying. Getting high is also how I ended up
knowing more than I would ever care to know about the band Extreme (another roommate of mine). Anyway, Dr. Who is something I don't regret learing about.

Oh my god though - what is going on with taking cheeseball sci-fi shows from the 60s and 70s and redoing them with huge production budgets? I'm not complaining. The new Battlestar Galactica looks awesome and the writing is amazing. But the original...c'mon! I laughed when I read that the actor who originally played Apollo (or maybe it was Starbuck) was asking fans of the original not to watch the new series because it did not respect the spirit of the original show.

!?!Respect the SPIRIT?!?!?! It was Bonanza in SPACE! Instead of cattle rustlers that Little Joe and Hoss would have to saddle up mix it up with, you had Cyclons for cattle rustlers - Vipers for horses, and Apollo and Starbuck suiting up to whup some ass. And you even had Lorne Greene steering the whole Ponderosa through space.

It might be that the Geek Lobby has more clout than it used to. I have heard rumors that UPN is thinking of extending Enterprise
for another season because all the Trekkies went on a massive lobbying effort to save the show.
