was an amazing success. I actually had more girls than guys show up which was really nice for a change =) I was expecting the pina coladas to be a big hit...but that fizzled and everyone was hitting the margaritas like they were going out of fashion. Kathy's guacomole dip was DEVOURED. Next time I'm going to make more of it.
Vika actually dressed up for it =) I was left a little speechless. I mean no one dresses up for anything around here....even when they go out 'clubbing' or what passes for clubs in Moscow. I think I'm a little spoiled about night clubs - coming from So. California. 'My Office' - which the locals here rave about...kind of reminds me of some of the redneck bars they have in Sturgis. I'm still going to have to check out 'The Beach' in Moscow though. They supposedly have fetish nights on Fridays or Saturdays when all the goths come out to play. There are one or two in the vicinity of Moscow/Pullman. I was shocked. Of course by goth here I'm including all of the rivet heads (industrial goths), perky goths, ethereal goths, and even the death metal kids. Anyway...grunge attire is about all you get. Actually Sally was complaining about that even in Seattle. Grunge attire is everywhere
Okay so back to the hottness known as Vika. It was on the tip of my tongue when I answered the door (being in a slightly inebriated state) to blurt out: "Fuck, you look hot!" And that was going through my mind over and over again, but what I finally settled on was: "Wow...Vika....your are looking really....really... NICE." Which was an incredible understatement, but I was a little flummoxed so it was the best I could do. Then I thrust a margarita into her hand and hurried into the kitchen to take care of the mulled wine which was simmering. Hawt math grad students! Cool = )
Ended up getting tossed and talking about relationships. Somehow got onto the personal grooming habits of our exes, and I was saying that my last girlfriend had a disturbing tendency to not shower for 4-5 days at a stretch. If she wasn't surfing, she could easily go a week without a shower. And you know...unless the both of you are not taking showers on a regular basis, that is a little hard to take in an SO. (I take a shower once a day - religiously). So Erika was saying that she thought it was healthy to get sort of ripe with your SO and get acclimated to their smell. Which, you know, I guess might be kind of a good idea. But I really really like my showers. It's a big reason I had trouble camping when I was in Cub Scouts (that and going for a day or two without brushing your teeth - and YICK). And, I don't know. Do a lot of women like their men to kind of stink and have bad breath???? Because I'm pretty sure I'm never going to be into it.
And it's so much funner to rub your face in someone fresh-showered hair than it is if it's lanky and dirty and a little greasy.
Oh and Jocelyn came to ....and Tsum. Unfortunately he's Korean and she's Taiwanese and neither of them speaks English very well, so I think our conversation passed by most of them as the evening wore on and everyone started drinking more and slurring their speech. But they both seemed to have a good time in spite of this.
