With quarters and pocket change - Pullman is pretty relaxed about Canadian money (like they were in Iowa), but it depends also on what business it is. Some businesses don't.
I haven't tried it yet in Spokane...so I don't know if it's universal or just a small town thing.
Another thing I get a lot of around here is $2 bills and Susan B Anthony coins. This whole area seems to act as some weird nexus for all the strange currency in the country to flock to.
